I have always had a love of gardening thanks to my mum and dad. I grew up helping in the garden growing flowers, fruit and veg. My passion has grown over the past few years since having to give up my career in hairdressing and now being able to work from home.
When we moved to Cambridge the gardens were just overgrown and unloved so we set to clearing and making it home. Last year we found we have a cherry tree, walnut tree, damsons and elderflower growing here. I also found that there is an apple tree and blackberries growing just up the road that nobody seems to make use of. We were so busy last year that I didn’t use all the fruits to their full advantage but this year I intend too, I just need some new recipes.
As you will have seen from my previous posts, I have created a vegetable garden out of the reach of all my animals although I have had the odd chicken get in and cause havoc! Last week was such lovely weather that I was out gardening everyday and have now upgraded my veg garden even more. I do still need to put a roof on my shed/greenhouse though.
We had an old stables falling down in our front garden so before it was pulled down I used old roof tiles and bricks to surround my boarders and found some old tyres which now houses mint. The farmer kindly gave me 2 containers to make my own water butts. I did put the tap slightly too high but only had small bricks to rest it on and that was a height of my watering can. Total cost £1.99 for the tap! 😁
